Do you know what a toy is? Mostly associated with children, toys are tools of play and they bring joy to not only kids but also grown ups as well. You can make a toy from many things: from clothes, cartons, leaves, twigs, paper, plastics and metal among other things.
Technology has however brought in other techniques in the field of toy making and games. We now have interactive digital media for example video games. There has been debate however on the kind of toys that are healthy and suitable for children. Some people argue that conventional toys are suitable while others claim revolutionary video games are better. The point however that is there should be a balance when it comes to choice of toys for your kids or even yourself.
Educational toys play a significant role in the growing up of our children and the society in general. Toys for grown ups have been in existence and they reflect a lot about a society’s culture and way of life. When playing with toys, children get strong and they are able to learn about the world around them. Adults on the other hand use toys to teach, remember and strengthen social bonds in the community. They are also able to discover their history or ancestry and generally decorate their surroundings. The word toy is said to have originated in 14th century where people moulded items using clay to represent animals, houses, trees, community elders among other things. It is from these toys that great inventions were realised. Ideas for invention of aeroplanes, vehicles, houses and ships were first conceived from toys. In the modern world today people use toys for different purposes and fulfillment. Toys ideally are designed to make people active and generate happiness in the community after all what else do human beings need if not happiness?
